Week 9 assignment 1. Reflection of the article "The Impact of Using Blogs on CollegeStudents' Reading Comprehension and Learning Motivation"


New literacy in teaching will be a trend to develop students comprehensive and learning motivation in k-12 and college students. Younger Americans read less and less than before. In nowadays middle school and high school students use media, TV show, social media while in their reading. The new literacy inspires the student’s multi-intelligence and provides a better way to enforce students learning. The new literacy is different than the traditional literacy learning, we can get resource from the internet, it enhances our literacy skills by researching resource, it practices on our reading and writing skills.  Using the blog is a good way to practice student’s literacy comprehensive ability and motivation on what we learn. Blog is a social media that we can express our opinion share information and interact with professors, classmates and even the people all over the world. Students can practice their comprehensive ability by writing blog. In the process of writing a blog, the learners need to do research and find a good resource that they can share information or their opinions. Meanwhile, it practices learners reading skill and logical analysis skills. The blog enhances learner’s social interaction, educators and learners can share information and receive the reflection at the first time. It builds up a community that we can share information and get boarder resource to enhance our learning process.

1. Theories and Practices of Multimodal Education: In today’s teaching in the classroom, teacher needs to use multimodal ways to inform students about learning theories and practice. The multimodal theories include Picture books, interaction with peers, gesture, drama, drawing, and ways of incorporating, integrating and extending linguistic signs. The digital media also can be a way to help students in literacy learning. Students can decode and comprehend alphabetic print in conjunction with other socially and culturally shaped forms of representation.
