Lesson PlanStudents can work with peers on iPad, to figure out the puzzle with group members. You can turn a topic related to any subject of study into a fun puzzle. To complete the game students, need to work together and find corresponding pieces and assemble the puzzles. The first group to have a complete puzzle is the winner.
After the students figure out the puzzle, students need to use their topic to write a short paragraph of their opinion, feeling or any brainstorming writing.
AssessmentFormal assessment: Based on students gaming result and group presentation to evaluate students’ understanding of the topic.   

     Informal assessment: Based on students class discussion and observation on students’ process to figure out the puzzle

 ·       Debriefing (refer to the journal article page 8 to 12)Debriefing is an important role in the game-based learning process, the students the students make a connection between the game playing experience and real-life situations. In the classroom practice gaming literacy, the educator makes make the connection of the curriculum topics and gaming literacy to cultivate students’ new literacy. When the students can recognize the rule of the game, the teacher can design the curriculum to the relative problem help students use new literacy to solve the problems.


·       What cognitive skills do this game help to cultivate?The puzzle game lesson plan practice on students logical thinking skills. The puzzle game encourages students to have logical thinking with daily practice. It is a good way to enhance students' new literacy learning.


·       What new literacies skills do this game help to cultivate (refer to the journal article page 2 and 3)?New literacy use information and communication technology tool to “identify questions, locate information, evaluate the information, synthesize information to answer questions, and communicate the answers to others”  (Leu,  Kinzer,  Coiro,  &  Cammack,  2004,  p.  1572). The puzzle game lesson plan integrates the technology with the new literacy. In the class, I assign students to encode the puzzle and decode the meaning of the puzzle. The game cultivates students logical thinking skills. The new literacy encourages students to explore the question and synthesize information and answer the questions.
